Why I Oil: With Maggie From A Focused Home

I am starting a new series today.  Every Monday I will include an interview with one of my oily friends talking about why we decided to try oils and what we have learned in the process.  First we are starting out with me 🙂

Introduce Yourself: I’m Maggie!  I am a stay at home mom of two wonderful kids living in the Washington DC area.

Why did you decide to try essential oils? My son was having some behavioral problems at school and I was desperate for a solution.  A couple of my friends had been raving about essential oils so I decided to give it a try.

Why did you try Young Living? Honestly, because Young Living Oils are what my friends were using.  After doing some more research I am so glad that I picked Young Living.  Great company with great products!

How have essential oils helped your household? Too many to list!  I think the biggest is that we are all a little calmer and more patient.  My kids are sleeping longer and getting better quality of sleep which makes us all a little happier during the day.  I also love the way my house smells 🙂

Personally, I have grown so much since starting essential oils.  I have learned so much about myself through this journey and I’ve fallen in love with me all over again.  It has boosted my confidence in a way I didn’t know was possible. I am more open to going after things I want and more willing to saying no to things I don’t want to do.

What is your favorite oil? Lemon Lemon Lemon.  I love that oil and everything about it. I love the way it smells and the way it makes me feel.  I know this sounds crazy, but lemon just speaks to me.  The uses for lemon oil are crazy as well!  I love to drink it in my morning water, to use it in my diy cleaning products, and just to smell over and over again :).

Top 5 must have oils: These change constantly for me.  But right now they are:

  1. Lemon- In your morning water to start your day right!
  2. Lavender- Great for creating a calming and peaceful environment.
  3. SleepyIze- A must have for kids.  This changed my life.  My daughter went from waking up early to getting a consistent 11 hours of sleep.
  4. Peppermint- A great energizing oil.  A perfect addition to your morning coffee!
  5. Stress Away
